Hi, I'm Laura. I've lived a few lives to get here.
The Cliff Notes
Native Londoner. Formerly Nashville-based indie artist. Came to LA, decided to stay. And now: plant-based mama of two raising her family in the Valley, making a home that feels like ours.
Happy Mama is where it all lands: the food, the music, the SoCal sunshine, and the real, beautiful chaos of a life built with intention.
How I Got Here
I grew up firstly in West London — tasting my first baby-lick of cappuccino foam on Chiswick High Road, where we'd stop with my family for a lemon sorbet as children. I can still smell the brisk, rain-kissed walks to the 'corner park' in our leafy suburban village. Some of that never leaves you, no matter how much California sunshine you absorb. In middle school, I came to the US with my family — landing first in Cincinnati, Ohio, where I finished school — before following music to Nashville, TN for university, where I stayed for 8 years becoming an indie artist, learning how to write songs and survive on very little sleep. Both skills have served me well in motherhood.
Next came my first stint in Los Angeles. I gigged as a music production coordinator and later started a career in media and brand partnerships, working with companies like NBCUniversal, Disney, and a handful of Beverly Hills-based brands spanning art, tech, and fashion. Then in 2013, I made a move back to London — and that's where everything changed.
Through mutual friends and goals in music, I met Ash. We were instant best friends; the kind where you can't quite imagine how you filled your days before. He was a rock guitarist and producer, I was still writing and singing, and from the beginning we shared total adoration for each other. We navigated periods of long distance, got married in 2018, and never looked back.
In 2020 we arrived in Los Angeles — his first time, my second — just before the world went quiet. Starting from scratch with literally just a couple of suitcases, we built our home here in the Valley, started our production studio, More Music and had two babies back to back. Right now we're finishing a project of new, original music written and recorded together at home between other projects, during nap times and late nights, coming later this year.
I didn't come to plant-based eating and clean living through Instagram. A disabling autoimmune diagnosis gave me the push I needed — and once I started paying attention, I couldn't stop. Necessity first, then curiosity, then conviction.
And Then, This
We have messy pancake mornings followed by toddler gym and art classes; trading turns at barre or mix sessions while the other holds down the fort. We spend weekends at the park and our house smells like whatever I'm testing in the kitchen. And somewhere in the middle of all that, I started sharing it, and realised other mamas were living the same kind of life: full, a little chaotic, and completely worth it. Honestly? Being a parent is better than I ever imagined — our children are everything, and this season is one I never want to rush.
That's what Happy Mama is. The life I'm actually living, shared with the community that we're growing.
What Happy Mama Is
Clean, plant-forward family food. Since I can remember, I've had a passion for baking, cooking, and creating recipes — and the treats we make from scratch. Real weeknight meals, toddler-approved and always plant-forward and nourishing.
LA family life. Where we actually go with two under three: parks, farmers markets, coffee spots, and the Valley gems we can't keep to ourselves.
Taking care, the best we can. Simple rituals, postpartum realness, and the products that earn a permanent place in our home.
Music and creative life. Because that part of me didn't disappear when I became a mama. In fact, it just got a little louder.
Honest favorites. Anything I link is something we own and use. When I recommend it, I mean it.
